For centuries, Bulgaria has been the country producing world’s highest quality rose oil. The first rose plantations appeared around the town of Kazanlak in 16th century. The climatic and soil conditions of the area proved to be more favorable than any other geographic region in the world. Gradually the number of rose plantations grew occupying a large area in central Bulgaria, known as the Valley of Roses. For more than 400 years, the Bulgarian Rose Valley has been considered the world center for rose oil production. Surrounded by two majestic mountains, the Balkan Mountain and Sredna Gora, the Valley of Roses is considered to have the best soil structure, air humidity, cloudiness and precipitation for obtaining the finest and most sought-after rose oil in the world.
The mesmerizing Valley of Roses is also the home to all of Alteya’s rose plantations. Our rose fields are located in close location to few small pictorous villages in the Rose Valley: Viden, Scobelevo, Pavel Banja and Jagoda.
Viden: One of our first plantations, the Viden farm is a beautiful plot of land surrounded by a big evergreen forest, far from commercial and urban centers.
Scobelevo: Our farm is situated in immediate proximity to the national mountain park “Central Balkan” – a beautiful eco region in the footsteps of the Balkan Mountain Range.
Pavel Banja: A place famous for its clean mineral water springs is home of one of our plantations.
Jagoda: Our newest organic plantation has a huge forest to the south (Sredna Gora Mountain) and a magnificent view of the Balkan Mountain Range to the north.
The fresh air and pure rains from the mountains mix with the gentle sunrays in a harmony that nurtures the highest quality oil-producing roses in the world.
